Meal Prepping Helps!

Meal Prepping Helps!

Noom coaches are great! They help by encouraging healthier eating habits. One method I found helps me a lot during the week is meal prepping.

On the day before I begin my workweek, I meal prep for healthy snacks, breakfast, and dinners. Usually, for lunch, I’ll make myself a healthy wrap which is not recommended to make in advance because they may become soggy.

Instead of packing those greasy, fattening, unhealthy chips, I started making up baggies with a mixture of healthy veggies such as organic carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes (Sweet Pops are great), cucumber chunks, or some celery sticks. I fix one bag for each day of the workweek.

For dinners, I pre-marinade fish and make foil packs, then freeze them so it’s easy to take out of the freezer and put in the oven.

I’ve made a large casserole dish of vegetable lasagna and divide it up into single servings for freezing. I love re-using leftover cool whip containers for things like this. They work out great. Just remember to label the side with masking tape, writing what it is and the date, then be sure you have the labeled side facing you when putting it in the freezer. 🙂

Berry Yogurt Oats in a jar

Berry Yogurt Oats – Yummy

Overnight Oats

83 Calories per serving

Overnight Oats are great for prepping ahead. I’ll make several at once making quick and easy breakfasts!

Here is a great recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup plain low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup frozen berries
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar, lite (or substitute with Truvia)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

I like adding a teaspoon of honey as well.

To Prepare:

  1. In a small seal-able bowl (or mason jar), layer 1/2 cup yogurt, 2 teaspoons lite brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 cup frozen berries. Place bowl or jar in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
  2. It’s best to prepare this ahead of time so that the berries have time to that and the oats will soften.
  3. When you are ready to eat, stir the ingredients up until mixed.
  4. Eat & Enjoy!
  5. This is one of my favorites for breakfast! It makes a great mid-day snack as well.

According to Noom’s unique food color system;

Noom- Making Healthy Living Easy

Noom's Unique Food Color System

Noom’s Unique Food Color System

Following Noom’s color system is easy and sustainable because they don’t expect you to eat only salads for the rest of your life. Learning how to manage portions is the key to successful weight loss.

The unique color system is broken down into Green, Yellow, and Red food groups. Each day, Noom guides you towards managing your portions by eating 1200 calories a day and breaking it down between each of the groups.

The breakdown involves managing your food intake to include 30% from the green category, 45% from the yellow category, and no more than 25% from the red category.

Most of your diet won’t be green foods and that’s expected.

It’s also important to remember that “red” doesn’t mean bad and “green” doesn’t mean good.

This unique color system is designed to be a portion guide and a recommended tool to use daily.

About Getting Started w/ Noom

Noom’s Mission

  • To help people everywhere lead healthier lives through behavior change.
  • They measure success by the number of lives they have made healthy.
  • They focus on significant, lasting outcomes. Weight loss is just the start. It resonates with most people and is the first step to preventing or improving other chronic and pre-chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
  • Small “non-scale” victories are important; things like gaining confidence and having more energy contribute to a happy, healthy life.

How Does Noom Do It?

Noom combines the power of technology with the empathy of real human coaches to deliver successful behavior change and sustainable weight loss results.

Over 80% of Noom users have lost weight on other weight loss plans only to gain it all back. Noom’s psychology-based program teaches people how to identify and change the habits that have been holding them back.

Through Behavioral Change: each Noom user receives coaching from professionals trained in cognitive behavior therapy. (CBT)

They dive deeper to help users understand their personal barriers, goals, and areas of opportunity for change. They know that weight loss is hard – both to start and to maintain – but by helping people train their brain, Noom helps ensure the hard work is worth it.

Customer Sign-Up Flow

Users enter Noom’s flow on their website, complete a brief survey, and then are presented with a personalized package (which is customized to their survey responses). Users are offered a 14-day trial for $1, after which they are billed for the program in a lump sum payment.

The most common plan is $129 for 4 months ($30/month). Right away they are introduced to their Goal Specialist [Coach] and begin the daily process of reading articles, setting goals and learning, learning, learning. After the 14-day trial, they are given access to a peer group and Group Coach.

I live in North Carolina and I recently graduated in May 2017, from Davidson County Community College with a degree in Network and Cyber Security. I love working on websites and doing research which brings me here. I didn’t know much about fitness and everything involved in it to be fit. I soon realized that being in my 40’s and staying in shape is going to take a lot more work and support. That’s when I decided to build my website around my personal problem areas, with hopes that I will not only get rid of mine, but help others as well.
