I hope you find what I have to say is helpful, easy to understand, and beneficial for you and your healthy living goals.
Coconut Oil and Weight Loss
Adding “Coconut Oil ” in a ketogenic diet (or a diet that’s rich in plants and wild meats), is a great way to lose weight fast. The recommended dose is 1 tablespoon a day. You can use it when cooking or just by adding it to one of my very own smoothie creations or one of yours.

When using coconut oil to cook with, you will find that your food will be juicier and more flavorful. This can be helpful when cooking those healthy tasteless meals that are sometimes dry. Coconut oil is one of those “Good Fats” that benefit you to eat. It contains fats such as monounsaturated fats also found in olive oil, nuts, avocado. This healthy fat can reduce high cholesterol, promotes good cholesterol, and digest slower boosting your metabolism for longer periods. The more energy you have the easier it is to lose weight

Pure Coconut Oil vs Capsule Form – Pros and Cons
The best coconut oil to buy is Organic Non-refined extra virgin Coconut Oil. You can cook with it, add to your coffee or smoothie, pop popcorn with it, swish it; whatever it takes to get your coconut oil fix for the day. I like to add it to my smoothie creations (click here for recipes), which I highly recommend. I also found a great website, “healthy oil planet” that use a variety of ingredients, I haven’t tried yet, but they sound delicious; Drink Away the Pounds with these Coconut Oil Weight Loss Shake Recipes.
Pros
My favorite way to take coconut oil is at its purest state, fresh out of the jar. It requires less to get the effect than if taking it in capsule form.
There are advantages of taking your dose in capsules. You can travel with it easier, making it easier to bring to work or on a trip. Taking your coconut oil by capsule when on the go would defiantly make life easier than carrying a jar of coconut oil around that could leak or be easily broken.
Cons
Some people may not be able to stomach the taste. The taste is a little more on the mild side compared to others, but the texture may not appeal to you. There are other alternatives for those of you that want to include coconut oil in their diets but can’t handle the taste. Coconut oil capsules would be a good substitute, but not as potent.
Low dosage per capsule – Depending on the amount of coconut oil you want to take in a day, you would need to take more capsules to get the same nutrients that are in 1 tablespoon of pour coconut oil.
Most soft gel capsules are usually made of gelatin that is from collagen. If you are following a vegan diet, then be aware that collagen can be made from animal bone and skin.

Hello,
I would love to hear your thoughts on this article. I’m sure there’s more benefits from using coconut oil than what I found. I know one thing I missed is, it’s good for a deep conditioning treatment on our hair.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Devara
As a Type 2 Diabetic, I am always looking for things that will help me with that issue, that are not medications. This looks like a great idea for me. I love raw coconut meat so I am sure I will like this.
Thank you for the very detailed information on this product.
Hello Curtis,
Thanks for visiting my site. I’m glad you found my article informative and helpful. I don’t have any experience with Diabetes and hope I never do, but I’ve found some good information to refer back to if I ever need it. I’m not sure what you are referring to when you say “raw coconut meat”. I’ve never heard it said that way. It’s something I will have to research a little.
Thanks again and please stop back by for more great articles coming soon.
Devara
Hi Devara,
I used to apply coconut oil to my hair years ago before switching it to herb-infused olive oil. I didn’t know there were so many benefits to coconut oil. Perhaps I should switch back to it. Consuming it? Hmm, I am not too sure if I can take the taste but it is worth a try though. Let’s see if there is a smaller tub which I can buy to try out.
Thanks for sharing its many health benefits.
Sharon
Hi Sharon,
The oil isn’t so bad when mixed in a smoothie, but I can’t take it by itself. The is smaller quantities that you can buy, I just placed the better deal on my post. If you click on the item it’ll take you to Amazon where you can chose the best size quantity for you. If you’ve never consumed it before I would recommend the smaller container or capsules.
Thanks for visiting my site,
Devara
Hey!
So I just bought a Jar of coconut oil to try. My question is that the consistency in the jar is hardened, not liquid like you buy olive oil. So I had a hard time getting it to mix with other ingredients when I tried to put it in my smoothie. Did I buy the wrong kind??
Hi Jessica,
Thanks for the great questions? This is something I should have included in my article.
It sounds like you bought the right coconut oil. The coconut oil that comes in liquid form is not as good as the solid. When it is sold in a liquefied state, some of the fatty acids are eliminated from the oil. Those fatty acids are what makes coconut oil so great! All saturated fats should be soild at room temperature.
If you are wanting to mix it in something like a smoothie, you can melt the oil “gently” so that its not too hot. Then slowly pour the oil into your blender while it’s in motion. Your smoothie should come out creamy as ever with no clumps of the coconut oil in it.
Please let me know if this helps resolve your issues.
Thanks so much and take care,
Devara
Hi Jessica,
I added a short YouTube video on my article showing how to add coconut oil to a smoothie. I hope this helps.
