Without doing any comparison at all, it is obviously less expensive to buy the BXE116 by about $300. So if you are on a limited budget this may be a better option. Although there are several benefits for paying the extra money.

Extra Money

  • How will I benefit from it?
  • What areas of my body does it work?
  • How many calories will I burn in 30 minutes
  • Will it help with my muffin top belly fat?

BowFlex BXE116 Elliptical are designed help you lose excess body fat, train your cardiovascular system and strengthen muscles (once you start increasing the resistance on the equipment). Using the handle bars will benefit every part of your body, even your muffin top belly fat.
If you are looking for home exercise equipment that will give you a full body workout, burn tons of calories, and help you lose that excess body fat, the BowFlex BXE Elliptical is the right equipment for you. There isn’t a particular piece of exercise equipment that will pin point a problem area on your body by only working a specific part. Remember, Its key purpose is to help you lose body fat, not to build muscle. Burn Fat

The BXE Elliptical will give you the most benefit when used at a high intensity rate. You’ll have to gradually work yourself up to that level by increasing the resistance a little at a time. A good 30-minute workout on this elliptical would include a mixture of a nice steady pace to get your heart pumping for about 30 seconds and then increase the intensity for 30 to 60 seconds, then drop back to a nice steady pace again. When you keep repeating that process throughout your 30-minute workout you will see on your BXE console your progress on how many calories you are burning. You should burn approximately 2.16 calories for every pound of body weight during a 30-minute elliptical workout. When you hold on to the handle bars you can see your heart rate which should be much higher than normal state.

Using this BowFlex BXE116 Elliptical and concentrating on eating a healthy diet over a time period will shed that unwanted excess body fat. If it’s abs, belly fat, or love handles you plan to work off, includes some strength training 2 or 3 times a week such as planks.

Great

AWESOME MACHINE

SLEEK AND QUIET

I have wanted one of these for the last 25 years! I am so happy that it doesn’t feel like home gym equipment, it feels professional (not wobbly) and looks good in my yoga room.

BETTER THAN THE GYM

I use this three or four times a week. It’s a great stress reliever. I combined this with my Bowflex PR1000 for a great workout.

VERY NICE

This is a very nice elliptical. It is quite sturdy and would compare with commercial models. It runs smooth and quit. It was very simple to assemble and only took about 90 min. Assembly goes much quicker if you have some basic tools… Alan head ratchets and some wrenches plus a Philips head screwdriver. This machine is quite large, a bit over 6′ long. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the incline feature, while it inclines smoothly it feels as if you are going downhill and does not incline as much as some other models I’ve used. all in I love this machine and I am quite pleased with this purchase.

I live in North Carolina and I recently graduated in May 2017, from Davidson County Community College with a degree in Network and Cyber Security. I love working on websites and doing research which brings me here. I didn’t know much about fitness and everything involved in it to be fit. I soon realized that being in my 40’s and staying in shape is going to take a lot more work and support. That’s when I decided to build my website around my personal problem areas, with hopes that I will not only get rid of mine, but help others as well.

  1. Hello Everyone,
I hope you found this review helpful when trying to decide on the best elliptical for you. Please stop by for more great reviews and a lot of other great articles.
    Thanks,

  2. I found your post interesting and informative. As a personal trainer I would recommend the cheaper elliptical model. 9 pre-progammable workouts provides plenty of diversity in the cardio training. I think the poundage difference in the flywheel and capacity are negligible from a training perspective.

    1. Hello Stacy,
Thanks for your opinion from your experienced level. I actually thought the BXE116 would serve the purpose. What appealed to me was the size of the console. I don’t wear my glasses when I workout, therefore the larger the console the better. I’m not sure its worth $300 more for that feature, but it does make me consider it.
Thanks for stopping by and take care.

  3. Thanks for this review. I am currently expecting a baby but will be looking to get back into a workout routine soon after. With lots of kids at home, I am considering purchasing something for home that I can do while they nap. I like the features that the BXE116 offers. My concern is the space it takes up and the weight of the machine. It doesn’t seem like it would be easy to move if I needed to make additional space. I will have to see if I could find a designated spot in our home that would be worth clearing out.

    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Jennie,
Congratulations in advance for your baby! Thanks for stopping by. If you are concerned about space, you may be more interested in my review on the Total Gym XLS. It is very compacted, light weight, and can easily be moved. Here is the link,

I wouldn’t recommend the Bowflex home gym because of its size and not as easy to move.
      Best of luck,
      Devara
